Our team provides compassionate care to elderly people who need assistance in managing their health care needs. We provide several levels of care from independent living, to nursing care, skilled nursing care and memory care. The current opening is in nursing care.

Summary

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dedicated team at Bethany Home. In this role, you will provide essential nursing care to our residents, ensuring their comfort and well-being while upholding the highest standards of healthcare. Your contributions will be vital in enhancing the quality of life for our elderly residents.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Follow our nursing model to promote holistic care for the residents

  • Direct the daily activities of the unit team that includes other nurses, CNAs, and CMAs in accordance with current federal, state and local regulations and guidelines and established facility policies and procedures

  • Participate in the admission, discharge and transfers of residents

  • Assess changes in residents’ status, notifying the physician and resident’s family or representative and documenting accordingly

  • Transcribe physician orders to medical records and carry out orders as written

  • Prepare and administer medications per physicians’ orders and observe for adverse effects

  • Perform wound treatments per physicians’ orders, observes for changes and documents accordingly as indicated

  • Schedule follow up appointments for residents

  • Provide nursing leadership to nursing team members assigned to the unit

  • Provide direct care skills such as colostomy changes, tube feedings, wound care, suctioning, IV administration, etc. in accordance with current policies and procedures

  • Perform rounds to ensure resident needs are being met

  • Collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure residents’ needs are holistically met

  • Assist in evaluating work performance of nursing department staff and assist with implementing discipline according to operational policies

  • Inform appropriate departments of concerns or complaints and follow up as needed

  • Report any incidents or unusual occurrences to the DON and participate in the investigative process as needed

  • Participate in end-of-life care asnecessary

  • Ensure that there is an adequate stock of medications, supplies, equipment and notify appropriate personnel of needs

  • Initiate, review and update care plans as required

  • Participate in the survey process when inspection surveys occur

  • Ensure that infection control principles are followed and assist in correcting deficiencies in practice
     

Requirements:

  • Current unrestricted Iowa RN nursing license

  • CPR certification

  • Schedule availability to work every third weekend and every other holiday

  • Ability to pass background check, complete pre-employment physical and TB test

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including customer service, patience, empathy, and compassion

  • Experience working in long term care a plus but on required
     

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 2:00-10:00 pm; including working every third weekend and every other holiday

  • Starting wage: New Wage scale, starting wage based on experience

  • Shift differential: $2.00 per hour

  • Incentive pay for picking up additional hours
