Maintenance II

Please accept this invitation to join the Bethany Home team. We are currently seeking a full-time Maintenance Level II to join our team to perform a variety of skilled maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the safe, efficient, and home-like operation of Bethany. This includes routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform routine maintenance tasks such as repairing plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC systems, medical equipment and appliances to ensure they are in proper working order.

Conduct preventive maintenance inspections of the facility, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC systems, and appliances to identify and address any maintenance issues or safety hazards.

Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and residents, prioritizing urgent matters.

Perform repairs and renovations to the building's structure, including painting, carpentry, and drywall repair.

Perform routine and deep cleaning of carpets and upholstered furniture throughout the facility using appropriate equipment and cleaning agents.

Conduct routine inspections of rooftop mechanical systems.

Preform other general maintenance of the building including light fixture repair, electrical switch plate and outlet repairs, replacing light bulbs and assisting residents with phone and remote-control issues.

Maintain the grounds by mowing lawns, trimming bushes, maintaining flowers, and removing snow and ice as needed.

Operate the fire alarm system and assist with fire drills.

Respond to emergency maintenance issues, including power outages, water leaks, and equipment failures.

Train new team members and act as a resource to Maintenance I team members when they take on a new task or have questions on a task.

Inspect the sprinkler system; knowledgeable of emergency procedures in the event of the sprinkler system outage. Able to shut the system down and reset it.

Act as a liaison with external contracts during absence of the maintenance supervisor.

Conduct fire drills in the absence of the maintenance supervisor.

Assign work to other team members in the absence of the maintenance supervisor.

Demonstrate knowledge of emergency policies and procedures, assist in emergencies and is prepared to step into the maintenance supervisor’s role his/her absence.

Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and equipment inventory.

Follow purchasing protocols for all purchases made on behalf of Bethany.

Follow proper infection control guidelines and PPE usage.
-
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols, including those related to hazardous materials and waste disposal.

Work closely with nursing, housekeeping, dietary and administrative staff to coordinate maintenance efforts.

Assist with the setup and teardown of equipment and furniture for events and activities within Bethany.
-
Collaborate with other staff members to maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for residents and employees.

Assist with resident room/apartment moves.

Transport residents in Bethany van when scheduling requires. This requires possessing a valid driver's license with a driving record that meets the criteria to become an authorized driver.

Participate in the maintenance on-call rotation that includes possessing a valid driver's license with a driving record that meets the criteria to become an authorized driver; the ability to answer phone calls or return them in no more than 15 minutes; and the ability to report to Bethany within 60 minutes of when the emergency call was placed.

Participate in mandatory monthly all employee in-services and all department training and in-services.

Participate in training programs and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to maintenance and facility management.

Participate in safety and emergency drills and training.

Fulfill responsibilities as assigned during implementation or activation of the facility's emergency plan.
Required Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
Post high school hands on training in maintenance related area(s) such as plumbing, electrical or HVAC systems or a minimum of two years’ experience working in the field of electrical repair, plumbing, boiler maintenance, painting or groundskeeping

Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets the criteria to become an authorized driver
-
Must be available for on-call rotation and able to work overtime as required

Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and a 2-step TB test prior to starting work

Ability to operate maintenance equipment and tools safely

May be subject to call-back during emergency
-
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
Schedule: 1st shift, includes on-call rotation every 4th weekend and 1 night per week

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
