Position Summary: The Controller will be responsible for the daily accounting operations of Bethany Home, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and effective internal controls. This role requires a hands-on detail-oriented professional with strong accounting expertise and the ability to manage a team effectively.
Supervisory Responsibility: The Controller will supervise facility receptionist(s) and accounting employees. This currently includes an accounting assistant who is responsible for payroll.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Planning/Reporting/Forecasting

Collaborates with Administrator on budget planning, oversees forecasting and financial planning processes (including overseeing month-end and year-end closing process.)

Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.

Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.

Generate financial reports for management, the Board of Directors, and external stakeholders providing financial guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business drivers.

Support strategic planning initiatives with financial insights and analysis.
Accounting Operations:

Be responsible for all aspects of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.

Ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions and reconciliations.

Maintain and improve accounting systems and processes.

Coordinate procurement activities.
Internal Controls and Compliance:

Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity.

Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.

Coordinate and manage external audits and tax filings.

Drive cost savings initiatives and efficiency improvements across the organization.
Leadership:

Will work with Administrator promoting professional development and high performance while fostering a cultural of continuous improvement.

Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Provide training and guidance on accounting best practices and procedures.

Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial alignment and support of financial initiatives.

Member of the executive management team.

Maintain high level of confidentiality.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.

Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.

Experience in a healthcare or non-profit environment is a plus.

Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Microsoft GP experience is a plus.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements

Requires exertion of force of 25 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, and 5 pounds continuously to lift/carry/move objects, files and documents.
