Please accept this invitation to join the Bethany Home team as a full-time cook.  We are currently seeking a full-time (32 hours per week) cook to lead our evening dietary team in "serving up smiles every night." If you are an experienced cook who is tired of late nights and working every weekend, consider joining our team.  You’ll find our wages competitive and we offer a full benefit package! If you aren’t available for full-time, consider applying for a part-time position.

Responsibilities: 

  • Study each recipe and gather all necessary ingredients

  • Cook food in a timely manner

  • Delegate tasks to kitchen staff

  • Ensure appealing plate presentation

  • Supervise dietary aides and assist as needed

  • Slightly modify recipes to meet resident needs and requests (e.g. reduce salt, remove dairy, soft or pureed)

  • Monitor food stock and assist with placing orders

  • Check freshness of food and discard out-of-date items

  • Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • A minimum of one-year industrial cooking experience required

  • Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes

  • Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment

  • Pre-employment physical and TB test 

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Familiarity with sanitation regulations

  • Advanced knowledge of culinary, baking and pastry techniques preferred

  • Schedule availability to work every other weekend and holiday

  • Background check required

 

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 11:30 am – 7:30 pm and including working every other weekend and holiday

  • Starting wage: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour depending on previous work experience
